Mr. John Ringstaff

ACHS Principal Dr. John Ringstaff

Dear Amelia County High School Family,

My name is John Ringstaff and I am excited and honored to be the principal of Amelia County High School! I know that ACHS is dedicated to the vision of preparing all learners to be exemplary citizens, forward thinking, spurred to innovate, and future ready. I share this vision as well!

During my career in education, I served 11 years as a biology/chemistry teacher, one year as science curriculum coordinator, and six years as a high school assistant principal. In each of these roles, I have focused on establishing high expectations that are shared among administration, students, faculty, and parents.  I believe that the school environment should not only focus on strong academic achievement but also support social and emotional development in young adults through extracurricular activities and sports.  To engage and inspire life-long learners we must continue to provide varied educational experiences and deliberately work to enhance our students’ 21st-century skills.

The positive school climate and culture at ACHS is the direct result of a continuing partnership between school, staff, students, and parents. With your help, I want to enhance the strong foundation already present. I can be reached at or by phone at 804-561-2101.

Thank you for allowing me to be a part of Team Amelia! Go Raiders!
