This year’s scholarship winners Shaquia Akers (senior), Katherine Edens (senior), and Taylor Rather (junior). On Thursday, November 12th, the School Counseling Department hosted their Second Annual “College Nights,” a program sponsored by the Educational Credit Management Corporation (ECMC), for all juniors, seniors, and their families. Over 175 people attended. Prior to the featured presentation, participants enjoyed complimentary pizza. College-bound students were given information spanning the entire college application process. Topics included choosing the right college, selecting a major, applying for and selecting financial aid that makes sense, and the ins and outs of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Best of all, three students walked away with a $500 scholarship each. This year’s winners were Shaquia Akers (senior), Katherine Edens (senior), and Taylor Rather (junior). ACHS is one of only two schools in District 8 to have been given access to this wonderful program.
