Welcome to another school year, Raiders!

I am Katie Jamrozy-Hamby and I am so excited to return to Team Amelia as the High School Assistant Principal.

I earned a Bachelor's Degree in English with a concentration in Secondary Education from Longwood University in 2011, a Masters in Educational Leadership from Longwood University in 2021, and I am currently enrolled in VCU's Doctor of Education program.

I was a classroom teacher here at ACHS where I taught English 9 and 12, Creative Writing, and Leadership Studies.  While I was here I also served as the English Department Chair and advised several clubs and student organizations including the Student Council Association and National Honor Society. In 2018 I was named the ACHS Teacher of the Year as well as the ACPS Teacher of the Year. Prior to teaching, I worked in higher education at Longwood University as an Admissions Counselor.

For the last year I was employed in Prince Edward County Public Schools as an Instructional Technology Innovation Specialist where I coached and co-taught with classroom teachers on innovative and engaging instructional practices and pedagogies.

I grew up in a military family and have lived all over, even in Rota Spain! I enjoy reading and being outside- especially at the beach! My husband, Mike, works for Longwood University and we currently live in Farmville. We got married in 2020 and have two dogs, Blitzen and Tacker. Right now I am also learning basic coding!

I look forward to being involved with the school community and supporting our high schoolers as they RISE and show the world what Raiders are made of! Every Raider, Every Day!
