Team Amelia: Good evening! Due to anticipated heavy rains and high winds starting early afternoon, ACPS will have an early dismissal tomorrow (Tuesday, 1/9/24). ACHS will dismiss at 12:30 P.M. ACMS will dismiss at 12:40 P.M. ACES will dismiss at 12:50 P.M. Parents of students who ride the bus should be prepared to meet their child's bus at the appropriate time tomorrow, due to the early dismissal. All 12 month employees may leave once all buses have cleared tomorrow afternoon. Please be safe and have a nice evening!

Ms. Lunsford's Fashion Marketing Class is taking a more hands-on approach to textiles this Holiday Season. Students have been creating scarves, bracelets, and hats to donate to this year's Amelia County Christmas Parents Organization. Keep Rising Raiders!
During our last Positive Action Assembly, we spoke about leadership. We wanted to make a major shout out to Zeb Elliot for becoming an Eagle Scout! It is required to earn 21 badges, but Zeb has earned 29 badges - this has earned him a bronze palm! Way to R.I.S.E. Zeb!
Last week's ACHS November Positive Action Assembly was AWESOME! We got a fashion show from students, showing festive examples of costume ideas for the 12 Days of Raider Spirit. Then, we got to celebrate two huge accomplishments! First, we celebrated awesome November attendance; only 12% of the student body missed 2 or days of school this month! Second, we celebrated our most recent Golden Raiders who were nominated by teachers for their respect and leadership during the school day. Way to go Raiders! #getupshowupandshine

ACHS #showedup and #shined yesterday by attending Southside Electric Coop's Lineworker for a Day event. They got to learn the ins and outs of the profession and got to witness and even try a few lineman tasks!

Spanish 2 students recently studied the Kuna culture of Panamá, where they learned about the "molas”. The "molas," are intricate pieces of fabric art that are traditionally sewn onto women's blouses and have been a longstanding tradition in the Kuna community. The students recreated their own versions of these beautiful works of art. Using paper, they carefully layered and arranged different colors to create stunning, eye-catching designs that showcased their creativity and skill. In their Spanish 3 and 4 classes, ACHSstudents learned about the influence of geography and weather on traditional cuisine. As part of their lesson, they prepared a tropical smoothie called "Batido tropical" from Costa Rica, being good #RAIDERS careful to follow SAFE food handling procedures by wearing gloves. After completing their task, they were able to enjoy the refreshing and delicious results of their hard work! #elevvateeducatorsva
